Now faith...

...is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1

During yesterday's church service I was reminded of how important our faith is to our relationship with God. Hebrews 11:6 says, "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he is the rewarder of those who diligently seek him."

The speaker at my church spoke on Genesis 22, and how God tested Abraham's love for God.  God wanted to know if Abraham loved his only son more than Himself.  Abraham had to give up the person he loved the most, and he had to have faith that God would provide for his needs.  After God saw that Abraham loved Him more, God provided a lamb for the sacrifice.

Recently God tested me with a situation, and asked me if I loved Him more than something else.  He also asked me if I would have enough faith to give up this so that God could work in this situation.  It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, but my faith is in God and he will reward me if I diligently seek him.
